Tax Lien Sale - FAQ

When is the next Tax Lien Sale?

The sale is held every February. The actual date for the sale will be available January 1st.

Where will the sale be held?

The sale will be held at the Treasurer’s Office, 253 Fifth St., Clifton, Arizona.

What are the hours of the sale?

The sale starts at 10:00 a.m. until all parcels are offered.

Where can I obtain the list of the parcels being offered at the sale?

The parcel list will be available at the Treasurer’s Office and will be published in the County newspaper approximately 2 weeks before the sale. It can also be found on the "February - Tax Lien Sale Listing".

Can anyone bid at the sale?

You must be registered in order to bid.

How do I register to bid?

You may obtain a "Bidder Information Form" at the counter the day of the sale or on the treasurer's webpage under Tax Lien Sales Forms. The form requires your name, mailing address, phone number and Social Security Number (SSN) or a Tax ID number.

What type of payment is accepted?

Money Order, certified check, or cash; no personal checks accepted.

Does the Treasurer’s Office help in researching parcel information?

No. The bidder must conduct any research on potential purchases.

Are there any fees associated with the purchase of a lien?

Yes. There is a $5.00 assignment fee, a $5.00 investor fee, and a $10.00 Certificate of Purchase (CP) fee.

What is the foreclosure process and will the County handle the foreclosure process for a fee?

Please refer to the Arizona Revised Statutes 42-18201. It is recommended that you seek an attorney. The attorney will give you the cost and time involved. The Treasurer's Office no longer facilitates the forclosure process. Upon submission of a judgement from Superior Court, the County Treasurer will issue a Treasurer's Deed. Please contact the Office for additional information.
